Therapy in the Netherlands for Expats, Students, and Everyone seeking support!English- and Greek-speaking psychologist in Leiden offering therapy for anxiety, stress, self-esteem, and life transitions.
I am Dimitra, a licensed English- and Greek-speaking NIP psychologist based in Leiden, offering therapy for expats, international students, and professionals living in the Netherlands, both in-person and online.
How Can I HelpPeople often seek therapy when they are struggling with thoughts or feelings such as:-“I feel lonely even though I am surrounded by people”-“I don’t feel like I fully belong anywhere anymore”-“I used to feel more confident, but something has changed”-“I am constantly overthinking or feeling anxious”-“Moving abroad has been harder than I expected”-“My relationships feel more difficult since relocating”You do not need to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support. Therapy can also be a space for reflection, self-understanding, and personal growth during periods of transition!
I work with clients with difficulties such as:-Anxiety and excessive worrying-Low self-esteem and self-criticism-Stress and burnout-Loneliness and isolation-Relationship difficulties-Adjustment to living abroad-Life transitions and identity questions
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your individual needs. I primarily work within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework, while integrating other evidence-based approaches depending on what is most helpful for you. Therapy is not about giving advice or quick fixes, but about helping you understand yourself, your patterns, and your emotional experiences more deeply.Together, we work at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

We will dig deeper into your goals! That can look like:- Identifying patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors- Learning coping tools (e.g., grounding, reframing thoughts)- Practicing new ways of responding to situations- Reflecting on real-life experiences between sessionsRemember: It’s not instant change, it’s gradual and layered. FAQ

Below, you will find answers to the most popular questions. Didn’t find what you need? Contact me via WhatsApp or E-mail!

  • The sessions are conducted in-person in Leiden, at Groene Maredijk 100, 2334 CT Leiden, and online via WhatsApp and/or Skype.

  • The practice is currently accepting new clients! No waiting time at the moment!

  • No. I am not collaborating with any Dutch Health insurance at the moment.

However, I keep my rates affordable so that more people can access the support they need.

  • Finding a psychologist is a highly personal process, because therapy is an interaction! It is nice to consider what approach would fit your needs better (e.g., CBT, Systemic, Psychoanalytical etc)., and search online for psychologists in your area of interest. Through Websites, you can usually get a basic idea of their approach and areas of expertise! Most psychologists offer a free, short consultation, which can offer a nice way to "check" if it felt trusted, safe and comfortable to talk to them!
On a more practical level, it is very important to ensure that the psychologist you are working with holds advanced degrees and is properly registered with a respected board or licensing body [e.g., NIP for The Netherlands, etc]. *You can also ask them to provide you with licensure information! You have every right to ensure their professional accreditation!
Keep in mind: Some people don’t find the right psychologist the first time! If this happens to you - it is not your fault. You have already decided you would benefit from therapy, so it is worth trying again and booking an appointment with another psychologist.

  • Therapy is an investment in ourselves - the greatest gift to our future versions.
However, I stand by the opinion that therapy should be accessible to everyone, and that is the reason I keep my fees affordable, at 90 euros per session (45 mins).
*Discounts are available for students, unemployed and individuals with low incomes.

  • Yes. You can cancel/change the date of your appointment free of charge up to 24 hours before it.
